Ingredients in A SHOC Energy Drink
A SHOC contains 10 calories, 1 gram of carbs (0 grams of sugar), zero fats, and zero proteins.
It includes a mix of electrolytes and B vitamins, caffeine from natural sources, Panax ginseng root, nine essential amino acids, and CoQ10.
Only the caffeine content (200 mg) and quantities of the B vitamins are known.
Below you can find a detailed explanation of every ingredient in A SHOC.
Electrolytes
- Magnesium Lactate
- Potassium
- Sodium
- Ocean Minerals (Sea Salt & Magnesium Chloride)
The above are essential minerals that support muscle contractions and nerve function. Sufficient amounts are needed to keep mineral and water balance in check.
Otherwise, you can experience nasty muscle cramps. It can support your workout by increasing blood volume and improving blood flow.
Vitamins B
- B3 (Niacin) (100% DV)
- B6 (100% DV)
- B12 (100% DV)
Vitamin B plays a vital role in metabolism, where they help carbs, proteins, and fats convert into energy.
Besides turning food into energy, they’re needed in many places inside our bodies to keep our cells functioning properly.
Some examples are:
The vitamins can expand the blood vessels, which increases blood flow, and allows for a better pump while working out.
They’re also used to create neurotransmitters: dopamine, serotonin, and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
They’re added to energy drinks because they can increase energy, help the metabolism, reduce fatigue, improve mood, promote healthy skin, etc.
200 mg of Natural Caffeine
- Coffee fruit
- Guarana Seed
- Yerba Mate
- Green Coffee Bean
Coffee fruit is a small round berry-like fruit that comes from the coffee plant. It’s filled with antioxidants and polyphenols that benefit the immune system and protect your cells from free radicals.
Guarana seed extract contains stimulants such as caffeine and theobromine. It has twice as much caffeine as coffee bean extract and contains antioxidants. It’s used for increasing energy and focus.
“Green” means the coffee beans haven’t been roasted. Roasting coffee beans reduces a compound called chlorogenic acids, which may be beneficial for weight loss, lowering blood pressure, and as an antioxidant. Green Coffee Bean Extract has a lower caffeine content than “normal” roasted coffee.
Yerba mate extract makes your body use more fat for fuel during exercise, which may speed up weight loss. It can also boost physical performance by better muscle contractions and reducing fatigue.
Panax Ginseng Root Extract
Panax Ginseng is the most researched type of Ginseng and can be found in Asia. It’s been used as a herbal medicine in these parts of the world for many years.
The active ingredients are the Ginsenosides. Panax Ginseng is a classified adaptogen, meaning it’s effective for lowering stress and anxiety.
The benefits for working out include (potentially) boosting energy and performance, reducing exercise fatigue, better recovery, and increasing testosterone levels.
9 Essential Amino Acids (3 of them are BCAAs)
L-Leucine, L-Lysine, L-Threonine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Methionine, L-Histidine, and L-Tryptophan.
Twenty kinds of amino acids exist, of which nine are essential. Our bodies don’t produce these, but we need them to survive.
Three (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) are called BCAA’s, or branched-chain amino acids.
They’re more likely to go into our skeleton muscles and are especially important for building muscle. Mainly L-Leucine is vital for protein synthesis to occur.
Amino acids are vital to building muscle, transporting nutrients, preventing sickness, chemical reactions, etc. A deficiency is detrimental to the overall quality of life.
Coenzyme Q10 (synthesized from Tyrosine)
CoQ10 is a vitamin-like, fat-soluble nutrient that our bodies produce naturally. It’s found in nearly every cell and has many benefits.
It’s a powerful antioxidant, and it’s needed to convert food into energy, etc.
Flavors of A SHOC Energy Drink
A SHOC Energy Drink comes in 8 refreshing flavors, enough variety for anybody to find their favorite.
Below is an overview of all the flavors:
- Acai Berry
- Blue Raspberry
- Citrus Ice
- Fruit Punch
- Orange Freeze
- Passion Fruit
- Tropical Punch
- Watermelon
I like the flavors of A SHOC because you can tell the difference with the majority of energy drinks. It does not have a chemical/ artificial taste to it.
If I had to choose one, I would go with Orange Freeze, but I like alternating.
I recommend closing your eyes, pretending you are on a beautiful white beach, and asking yourself: “which flavor would I enjoy right now.”
Experiences with A SHOC Energy Drink
The general trend with A SHOC energy drink seems to be that those who try it swear by it. Many people have deemed it their favorite energy drink.
They love the feeling of natural energy and find it to be “smoother,” long-lasting, and without a “crash” or “jitters.”
A big reason A SHOC is loved over competing energy drinks is the fact that it’s healthier and doesn’t contain any artificial additives or chemical preservatives.
The non-chemical-tasting flavors are well-loved by nearly all people that try it.
Overall, experiences with A SHOC are incredibly positive.
A SHOC Energy Drink gets 4,6 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
Price of A SHOC Energy Drink
A SHOC Energy Drink is priced at $25.99 for a 12-pack of 16 oz cans on Amazon. This makes the cost per can $2.17.
Because of its unique healthier approach, A SHOC can be best compared to ZOA energy drinks (from nobody less than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson” himself).
ZOA is slightly more expensive at $2.50 per 16 oz can. You can read the review of ZOA here.

Is A SHOC Energy Drink Worth It?
Based on the ingredients, flavor, my own, and other experiences, I believe A SHOC is a healthier, less chemical substitute for usual energy drinks.
And the flavors taste delicious (in my opinion).
It gives you a long-lasting, natural sense of energy and mental clarity and has no side effects like a “crash” or “jittery” feeling.
The only downside is that there’s no transparency in the quantities used of many ingredients like Panax ginseng, amino acids, etc. Because of this, we can’t know the actual effectiveness.
That being said, ocean electrolytes are unique for an energy drink.
I love the mission of A SHOC and its approach to formulating an energy drink without chemical preservatives or artificial additives.
For a full-blow personal record-breaking workout, this does not substitute an (intense) pre-workout for me. However, for cardio or light sessions, it’s ideal.
Suppose you typically dislike energy drinks for their chemical taste and questionable ingredients. I recommend giving A SHOC a shot to see if it’ll be your go-to energy boost.
