Pre-workouts can be fantastic for working out harder and longer, being more focused, and summoning strength you didn’t even know existed.
There are many pre-workouts on the supplement market, but not all are created equal.
Some are hidden gems, and others are overpriced and entirely underdosed so that you could’ve just drunk a cup of coffee instead.
Jacked Factory has a pre-workout supplement that’s also supposed to increase fat burning, but is it any good?
In this article, I’ll be reviewing the NITROSURGE Shred pre-workout.

Ingredients in NITROSURGE Shred
The good news is that NITROSURGE Shred does not contain any proprietary blend, which means there’s transparency in ingredients and quantities.
The bad news is that apart from the 180 mg of caffeine and 1,000 mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine, the ingredients are very poorly dosed.
2,000 mg of L-Citrulline
L-Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that our bodies transform into another amino acid called L-arginine.
It increases the release of nitric oxide, which helps to widen the blood vessels. This allows more blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to be transported into the muscles.
L-Citrulline also increases blood flow to the brain, which helps you to feel more focused, energetic, and sharper during training.
1,600 mg of Beta-Alanine
Beta-alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is produced naturally in the body. It helps to reduce fatigue, which allows for more reps and sets while working out.
Over time, this can lead to more muscle growth and strength gains. It’s also the cause of that itchy or tingling feeling all over your body.
1,000 mg of Acetyl L-Carnitine (HCL)
L-Carnitine is an amino acid naturally occurring inside our bodies. It’s needed to turn fat into energy, which is why it’s so prevalent in fat burner supplements.
Higher levels of L-Carnitine may make your body more efficient at burning fat, boost metabolism, and make you more energetic.
The added benefit of “Acetyl” is that this form of L-Carnitine can pass the blood-brain barrier. Acetyl L-Carnitine can promote better focus, alertness, muscle contractions, memory, and sleep in the brain.
“HCL,” or hydrochloric acid, is added so our bodies can absorb and digest the L-Carnitine better. This helps it to be more effective.
180 mg of Caffeine Anhydrous
Caffeine anhydrous is extracted from the seed and leaves of coffee plants. “Anhydrous” means that it contains no water.
It’s a highly concentrated caffeine powder, the same as caffeine in coffee. Caffeine provides energy, alertness, focus, etc.
90mg of L-Theanine
L-Theanine helps to regulate the effects of other stimulating ingredients.
You feel focused and energetic but not overly stimulated. It also helps caffeine work longer, so you don’t experience a crash while working out.
L-Theanine also stimulates the production of dopamine and serotonin, so you’ll feel better overall.
50 mg of Theobromine
Theobromine is an alkaloid that’s extracted from cacao plants. It can expand your blood vessels, which improves blood circulation and helps to transport more nutrients in your muscles.
It may improve cardiovascular and cognitive performance. Together with polyphenols and caffeine, it can have a thermogenic effect, which increases energy expenditure.
This could potentially help in weight loss.
2.5 mg of BioPerine (Black Pepper Fruit Extract)
BioPerine or Black Pepper Extract is used in pre-workouts because it improves the absorption rate of other ingredients.
It also has a thermogenic effect that can boost energy by increasing internal body temperature.
Flavors of NITROSURGE Shred
NITROSURGE Shred comes in the six following flavors:
- Black Cherry
- Blueberry Lemonade
- Fruit Punch
- Lemon Lime
- Orange Pineapple
- Watermelon
Flavors are personal since everybody has different taste buds. I like the flavors, especially Black Cherry. Nothing to complain about here for me.
Is NITROSURGE Shred safe?
NITROSURGE Shred is safe when sticking to the recommended dose for most healthy adults.
The pre-workout is moderately high in caffeine, which might not be ideal if you’re sensitive to caffeine or anxiety. It can make anxiety worse.
Don’t take this pre-workout too late in the day, or you risk not falling asleep.
It’s best to consult a medical provider before taking NITROSURGE Shred if you’re taking medication, have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are nursing.
In some cases, you can have mild side effects like an upset stomach, feeling nauseous, diarrhea, headache, etc. However, this is a mild pre-workout, so the odds are slim.
Experiences with NITROSURGE Shred
The experiences with NITROSURGE Shred are overall positive but with some criticism.
Many people feel that NITROSURGE Shred gets them going in the gym, gives them more energy and a better pump, makes them sweat more, and feel focused throughout their workout.
It gives them only a tiny “itchy” feeling, which comes from the underdosed Beta-Alanine. This can be a slight advantage if you don’t like the tingles.
Most people like the pre-workout taste, but as with any supplement, enough people don’t like it.
Criticism comes from people who don’t feel the pre-workout and state they can fall asleep after taking it. Some say it gives them energy, but no pump, extra strength, etc.
NITROSURGE Shred gets a score of 4.3 out of 5 stars on Amazon.
Price of NITROSURGE Shred
NITROSURGE Shred is priced at 29.99 dollars for 30 servings on Amazon. This makes the price per scoop around either $1.00.
At first sight, this is not expensive compared to most “high-quality” pre-workouts. This is not a high-quality pre-workout at all. I think the price is astonishingly high for the measly underdosed 6.7-gram scoop you’re getting.
The best-valued pre-workout I’ve ever seen or reviewed is the Nutricost Pre-Workout.
Each scoop contains 15 grams of a long list of perfectly dosed ingredients (even for very advanced pre-workout enthusiasts). Anything you wish for in a pre-workout or more is in there, costing $0.63 per scoop.
Half a scoop of Nutricost Pre-Workout will work better for any goal than a full scoop of NITROSURGE.

- Improve Sexual Health
Is NITROSURGE Shred Worth It?
Based on the ingredients, experiences of others, and my own experience, I can say NITROSURGE Shred is not worth it (for me).
The only thing good in this pre-workout might be the L-Carnitine. However, any good pre-workout will do more for you in terms of burning more calories in the gym, so I still wouldn’t recommend it as a fat burner.
The ingredients are underdosed, and the experiences with the flavors are mixed at best.
I think you’re not getting real value for your money, and there are countless better options.
I’ll share a pre-workout that doesn’t market itself with a crazy name, cool packaging, or slogan. However, it’s the most mind-blowing pre-workout gem I’ve encountered.
The best-valued pre-workout I’ve ever seen or reviewed is the Nutricost Pre-Workout.
Each scoop contains 15 grams of a long list of perfectly dosed ingredients (even for very advanced pre-workout enthusiasts). Anything you wish for in a pre-workout and more is in there, costing $0.63 per scoop.
It’s not only one of the best pre-workouts in terms of ingredients, but it’s also one of the cheapest and made in the USA with the highest quality ingredients.
If you don’t like a “strong” pre-workout, half a scoop of Nutricost Pre-Workout will still work better than NITROSURGE Shred.
I recommend giving Nutricost Pre-Workout a try instead but be aware that the flavors might not be great (only downside), and it’s powerful.
