BCAA supplements are one of these, but which one should you use?

Nutricost is a supplement company that claims to use only the best-quality ingredients. For this reason, their BCAA supplement spared my interest.

Since you’re here, I suppose it sparked your interest as well.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing the Nutricost BCAA.

Ingredients in Nutricost BCAA

The Nutricost BCAA contains 5-10 calories and 1-2 grams of carbs (no sugar), depending on the flavor.

The ingredients are very straightforward. You get 6 grams of high-quality BCAAs; the other ingredients are mainly flavoring/ sweeteners/ coloring.

The unflavored form has NO OTHER ingredients besides BCAAs.

6,000 mg of Vegan Fermented BCAAs (2:1:1 ratio) – L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine | Instantized

Twenty kinds of amino acids exist, of which nine are essential. We must get them from food because our bodies can’t produce them.

Three (L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine) are called BCAA’s, or branched-chain amino acids. They are more likely to go into our skeleton muscles, which is why BCAA supplements have become so popular.

L-Leucine may be the most important because of its vital role in protein synthesis (building muscle).

The 2:1:1 means a 2 L-Leucine ratio for every 1 L-Isoleucine and L-Valine. This is the optimal formula suggested by science.

Instantized means that the BCAAs have a coating that improves solubility. This helps the BCAAs to dissolve better.

Science has found that consuming BCAAs before/ during/ after training can improve strength, muscle gains, endurance, and recovery.

Vegan fermented BCAAs come from plant-based sources (corn). This has the same benefits as animal sources but may be more soluble in water (easier to mix).

Flavors of Nutricost BCAA

Nutricost BCAA comes in 9 flavors. Many options are excellent because there’s undoubtedly a favorite for anybody.

The following flavors are available:

  • Grape
  • Green Apple
  • Mixed Berry
  • Orange Mango
  • Pineapple
  • Raspberry Lemonade
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Watermelon
  • Unflavored

Since there are no other ingredients in the “unflavored” option, this is my preference. However, pure BCAAs taste super bad (be warned).

The flavored options are great because, in my opinion, these make workouts slightly more fun. I like many flavors, but raspberry lemonade is my kind of taste.

Is Nutricost BCAA safe?

Nutricost BCAA is entirely safe for most healthy people because amino acids are necessary for our bodies to function correctly.

However, people with maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) must avoid BCAA supplements. They cannot break down amino acids properly.

Experiences with Nutricost BCAA

The experiences with Nutricost BCAA are near perfect. The majority of people that try it believe it to be the best BCAA supplement on the market.

Many don’t train anymore without it. It helps them recover, perform better in the gym, feel better overall, and get excellent results.

The unflavored option tastes very bad, but this is normal for BCAAs without added ingredients. The flavored options are well-loved.

Besides this, it’s often pointed out that Nutricost BCAA is affordable, high-quality (USA), and great value.

The main criticism is the horrible taste/ smell of the “unflavored” option. However, this is just what pure amino smell and tastes like.

Nutricost BCAA gets an excellent 4,5 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

Price of Nutricost BCAA

Price of Nutricost BCAA

The price depends on the flavor, so I’ll use the (pure) unflavored option for this comparison. Nutricost BCAA is priced at 13.95 dollars for 30 servings on Amazon.

It becomes cheaper if you buy a larger package, with the best value being 38.95 dollars for 150 servings. You’ll be paying between $0.465 and $0.26 per serving, depending on the number of servings.

This is a very affordable price compared to competitors, especially for vegan instantized BCAAs (which usually come at a premium).

The flavored options come slightly more expensive but will still be well below the market average.

I’ll make the comparison with two other well-known vegan BCAA supplements:

Is Nutricost BCAA Worth It?

I think Nutricost BCAA can be beneficial for your workout efforts mainly (but not limited to) the following occasions:

  • If you’re on a (very) low-calorie diet.
  • If you’re working out in a fasted state in the morning.
  • If you’re training intensely for a long time (and need extra hydration).
  • If you’re currently not eating a high-protein diet.
  • If you’re not able to eat in a reasonable time after your workout.
  • If you like a unique flavored drink during your workout, day, or before going out.
  • If you have a mindset like “if it doesn’t work, it will not harm me anyways.”

BCAAs can be widely found in our foods (eggs, chicken, etc.). For that reason, it’s not a necessity for everybody. Having typed that, they do have their time and place occasionally.

Considering the endless BCAA options at your disposal, Nutricost BCAA is as good as it gets. The quality is undoubtedly top-notch.

It’s USA-manufactured, made in an up-to-health standards facility, and 3rd party tested.

The BCAAs are instantized and vegan fermented, meaning they’ve got a coating to be extra soluble and come from plant-based sources. It’s as good as it gets.

The benefits are as expected: better workouts, enhanced recovery, and a delicious drink (if you choose the flavored option).

Go for the unflavored option if you want pure BCAAs without sweeteners, flavoring, or coloring. But be aware that it tastes and smells very bad.

I recommend giving Nutricost BCAA a try if you’re looking for a high-quality BCAA supplement that comes at an exceptionally affordable price.
